Copy - Lieke Van Der Vorst
To explore more techniques, I chose to look at an artist called Lieke Van Der Vorst. She has her own company with her husband and uses many different mediums, however mostly she makes prints using Lino.
When it came to exploring Van Der Vorst's work further I chose to copy one of her pieces. I started by working in pencil and water colour, this meant that I could scan the image into Photoshop later and adjust the threshold levels and the colours.
Thresholding the bear was the trickiest part. It was difficult to get the right balance of white and black, so I decided that I would go back in later and add more lines.
When it came to adjusting colours I selected the area that needed altering and used levels to change the hues and saturation. This meant that the colours were truer are more vibrant. I also used the same process to change the saturation of colour on the van.

Photos of Subject Matter
The main aim of this process was to gather photos of people that could be used for my character design. The portrait photos will help me with facial proportions and angles and the full body poses will help me with the positioning of limbs and again, proportion. I also explored objects that have links to the story, such as the spade and rope. I placed these to look random and as if they had been left behind by a child; like the lost girl in the story.

Cyanotypes
Through this light sensitive process I created a print of some objects that linked to my story. To start I gathered images and inverted them in Photoshop, this meant that when it came to covering the light sensitive cyan the darker bits would come out light. I printed the images out on to acetate and cut the objects out to create one composition. I avoided layering the acetate so that the light could go all the way through . The finished product worked well and could potentially be used as a process in my final design for my story.
